Nick Kamen (nome d'arte di Ivor Neville Kamen, Harlow, Essex, Gran Bretagna, 15 aprile 1962 - Londra, 4 maggio 2021). E' stato un cantante e modello inglese.

Nel 1986 Nick Kamen diventa famoso col il celeberrimo spot della Levi’s 501 “Laundrette”.

Un bel ragazzo (Nick) entra in una negozio lavanderia e senza problemi si sveste, mette jeans e T-shirt a lavare e si siede ad aspettare in mutande fra le altre persone finchè i suoi vestiti non sono pronti, a quel punto si riveste ed esce dal negozio.

Madonna (la cantante) colpita dalla voce e dal potenziale del giovane modello decide di produrne la prima canzone “Each time you break my heart”, facendo anche la corista.

Il singolo viene seguito nel 1987 dall’album intitolato “Nick Kamen” che diventa il suo primo grande successo mondiale.

Dall'album vengono estratti anltri singoli tra cui un vecchio successo di Stevie Wonder dal titolo Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever che avrà un ottimo successo anch'esso.

L'anno successivo bissa, più in Italia che altrove invero, con l'album Us da cui viene estratto il singolo Tell Me.

I discografici, forse anche consapevoli del fatto che questo fenomeno non potrà durare in eterno, alla fine del 1988 pongono in vendita un 33 giri antologico (sebbene la sua carriera sia ancora brevissima) chiamato Loving You, composto di un paio di brani nuovi più versioni estese e rimissate dei suoi maggiori successi.

Ormai Kamen è diventato un fenomeno tutto italiano, tanto che questo album viene stampato solo da noi.

Torna alla carica nel 1990 con il singolo I Promised Myself e l'album Move Until We Fly.

Il singolo si comporta bene nelle classifiche, l'album un po' meno. Tuttavia il responso è ancora discreto e Kamen può tirare un sospiro di sollievo.

Almeno fino al '92 anno in cui esce il suo ultimo album: Whatever Whenever. Anche il singolo We Never Lose What We Found non smuove nessuno dei suoi vecchi fan e così il buon Nick sparisce nel nulla.
