Nel 1986 Nick Kamen diventa famoso col il celeberrimo spot della Levi’s 501 “Laundrette”.

Un bel ragazzo (Nick) entra in una negozio lavanderia e senza problemi si spoglia, mette jeans e T-shirt a lavare e si siede ad aspettare in mutande fra le altre persone finchè i suoi vestiti non sono pronti, a quel punto si riveste ed esce dal negozio.

Madonna (la cantante) colpita dalla voce e dal potenziale del giovane artista decide di produrne la prima canzone “Each time you break my heart”, facendo anche la corista. Il singolo viene seguito nel 1987 dall’album intitolato “Nick Kamen” che diventa il suo primo grande successo mondiale.

Memorabili sono i brani Each time you break my heart e I promise myself.

Nick Kamen (vero nome Ivor Neville Kamen) nasce ad Harlow in Essex (UK) il 15 aprile 1962.
