Mel e Kim sono due modelle prestate al mondo pop degli anni ’80.
Scoperte dai famosi produttori Stock-Aitken-Waterman, iniziano una promettente carriera fatta di successi e popolarità, fra il 1986 e il 1987 hanno nelle hit mondiali due singoli Respectable e Showing Out tratti dall’album di esordio F.L.M.
Chi non ricorda il coro "Tay tay tay tay, t-t-t-t-t-tay tay..."? Memorabili sono anche le pose plastiche che assumevano e i balletti che ne infarcivano i video.
Ma F.L.M. è anche l’ultimo album di Mel e Kim insieme, infatti nel 1987 a Mel viene diagnosticato un tumore, che la porta via nel 1990 a neanche 24 anni.
Kim nel 1993 ha pubblicato un album Breakaway, cercando di rilanciare, senza troppo successo, la propria carriera come solista.
